Magnetic Laboratory

The magnetic laboratory analyzes magnetic properties of rocks in order to identify the preferred orientation of minerals and grains and the magnetic carriers due to deformation, sedimentation, transportation, and flow.  Equipment includes Kapabridge KLY-4S, magnetometer JR-6A, AF, LDA-3A, AMU-1A, CS-L, CS-3 (Agico).

Types of analyses:
Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS), anisotropy of anhysteretic remanent magnetization (AARM), AF demagnetization, Susceptibility-Temperature curves
