Position:

Senior researcher, PhD
In charge of the CL and micro-drill microscope laboratory

Research interests:

  • My primary area of interest is the paleoenvironmental, tectonic and sedimentary characteristics of the Triassic period, beginning with the Permian-Triassic global bio- environmental- crisis, up to the Triassic-Jurassic boundary focusing on the Levant Basin records (north Arabian Plate). Employment of an integrated approach combining micropaleontology, sedimentary petrography and diagenetic stratigraphy using a PPL, X-nicol, and cathodoluminescence microscopy on peri-evaporitic, mixed siliciclastic and volcanics all associated with the carbonates factory.
  • Identification of key micropaleontological species (mainly benthic foraminifera) and assemblages for biostratigraphy correlation.
Determining original depositional textures in micro-scale, and distinguish the diagenetic features and applying the sequential diagenetic "finger prints" to borehole cuttings.
  •  Applying geochemistry proxy analysis (XRD, TOC, stable Isotopes ratio, and Sr/Sr ratio) and in addition wire-log analysis to solve paleoenvironment, biostratigraphy issues.

Main projects and grants:

  • Tracking diagentic history in mixed volcanics and reefal sedimentary system in Triassic-Jurassic transition sequence in the northern Israel subsurface.   (funded by MNI).
  • Ecological perturbation and recovery patterns, under changes in climate and depositional-circumstances, in the post-crisis world, during the Early Triassic, Levant basin. (funded by MNI).
